Khan told the OT over phone that he is ready to help the people of Okhla who want oxygen cylinder. “We will provide cylinder as first aid to needy patients for four or five hours. After that the patient has to manage it and we will get back our cylinders,” said Khan.

He said he will try his level best to help critical Covid patients with respiratory issues who cannot afford or procure them. Khan said he realised that there is urgent need for such work after reading reports and stories on the social media.

Meanwhile, in a bid to ensure continuous monitoring of the oxygen stocks and its consumption, the Delhi government has set up a 24 member audit committee. The Delhi government noted that in this kind of a situation when due to the surge of Covid-19 the consumption of oxygen has also increased it is necessary that the stocks of oxygen, and its consumption, is closely managed and rationalised.

This committee will have to submit its report to the nodal officer-in-charge of the hospital latest by 5 pm every day, he said.
