Watch: Okhla-based ex-journalist Iqra begs for help, family has no food to eat, no power supply in house for month due to nonpayment of bill

The story of Okhla-based resident Iqra Khan will make you cry. Since Monday night her family of four, including two children, has not eaten food as her food stock has dried up, said Khan, who years ago used to work as a reporter in Day Times.

The impoverished family is in immediate need of food, said Aseem Asha. After the OT posted her video two hours ago it solicited several comments.

No power supply in Iqra’s house for a month as she has no money to pay electricity bills.

“She visited Aseem Asha Foundation office in Okhla Vihar this evening. The video of Iqra has been produced by Aseem Asha Foundation. Thanks to the OT for taking immediate action for her support,” said Aseem.

Narrating her ordeal to Aseem, Iqra said she feels helpless today as years ago she used to highlight stories of others in the newspaper and today she is compelled to beg for support from others.

Her financial conditions worsened after her husband met with an accident five months ago and since then he is in bad state, she said.

As she was unable to pay her electricity bill, her power connection has been cut and the family is living without power for the last one month, she said.

Aseem, who visited her house, said he saw that there was no power supply in the house, and the family needs immediate help. He said a small help was provided by him but it appears not be sufficient.

Aseem shared the bank details urging residents to come forward and help her and the family financially.

When netizens asked for Khan’s address, Aseem wrote: “If you guys want to visit her personally, meet her in Okhla Vihar, Kahkashan Masjid wali gali, Bittu ki dukan ke paas. Her son Farman is maulana teaches Koran.”
