First English medium school for poor kids in Okhla by Delhi Waqf Board to start soon: MLA Amanatullah

It was on May 5, 2019 when at a meeting of Muslim intellectuals in Okhla, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan had announced that the Delhi Waqf Board will set up 250 English medium primary and middle schools on line of DPS for poor children.

Community portal OT was the first to report this.

After years, Khan, the current chairman, told the OT that work is going on in full swing and the school will be opened soon. “We have taken on rent a building in Batla House,” said Khan.

The OT spoke with the owner of the building and he said the Board has taken my building on rent in which work is going on and a school is to be opened soon.

This is going to be first English medium school for the deprived children in Okhla. It is understood that once the building work is over, the process of taking in teachers and students would begin soon. Education to students to be provided for free in English, said sources.

“Despite hurdles, we are determined to start the school from this session. We have zeroed in on a property at Okhla. Importantly, we will not be using government or Board funds but accepting contributions from individuals,” said Himal Akhar, a member of the DWB.

Initially the board is planning to open 16 schools in Okhla, Seelampur, Babarpur, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Gandhi Nagar area.
