An auto fell into a 7-foot-deep dug-up road in Batla House on Thursday night, according to eyewitnesses. Three passengers were rushed to the hospital for first aid, while the driver appeared to be unharmed after the vehicle was pulled out of the ditch with the help of local residents, said Wajid, who went live on Facebook from the scene.
“Look, we are currently near the Batla House stand. A major accident has occurred here. Delhi Jal Board was carrying out work at this spot. Those who come from Jamia Millia Islamia toward Batla House come across this road. There was no barricading, nothing. An auto fell completely into the ditch,” he said.

Residents standing around there said the passengers went to the hospital as they were injured.
A resident Munir said: “I was here. I was sitting with my brother near the bridge when a boy came running, saying, ‘Brother, an auto has fallen over here, no one seems to know about it.’ We all rushed there and saw a child, and a man was standing. The auto was overturned.”
Residents helped in pulling the auto out
“We somehow managed to get the auto out of there with great difficulty. A few brothers standing here helped. With their help, we pulled the auto out. The place where it fell had no lighting, no boards, nothing. No safety equipment or warning signs,” said an eyewitness.
It is understood that after the incident and residents gathered on the spot the deep pit was filled with mud. In a video message, AAP worker Sibghatullah showed how the pit has been filled with mud.
Injured rushed to hospital for first aid: Wajid
Later on Wajid, who had gone live on his timeline, said the JCB was used to fill the pit.
“We don’t yet know their current condition. They are currently admitted at Holy Family Hospital. We will go there and find out how they are,” he said.
Later, AIMIM members also arrived at the spot. AIMIM Okhla member Amir, who happened to be passing through the area, captured the scene and shared a short video clip on X.
AIMIM Delhi president Shoaib Jamee shared a video with the OT in which he can be seen berating a contractor responsible for the work.
“…Would you be able to compensate for that? A simple sorry won’t work. Sorry is absolutely not enough. You’ll have to come to the site and take responsibility, or else tomorrow I will… Otherwise, tomorrow I will personally go to the DCP and file a case. I’m warning you. My name is Shoaib Jamai, State President of AIMIM. Remember this. Who has authorised you to work like this? And how many more days will this drama go on? There should be a case registered for culpable homicide,” he said on the phone.
Social activist Md Sagheer said the road is already congested due to bikers riding on the wrong side, creating additional problems for other commuters. After coming to know about the incident, many residents wondered how come the driver was unable to see the deep pit.
