Moti Nagar flyover to reduce travel time

In a development aimed at easing traffic woes for Delhi commuters, a 3-lane flyover connecting Dhulakuan, Azadpur, and Rohatak, Haryana was inaugurated. The PWD has constructed this 3-lane flyover on Moti Nagar Ring Road. This will benefit people traveling from Dhulakuan to Azadpur and Rohatak.

Addressing the public, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the benefits of the flyover, noting that what used to be a half-hour ordeal to cover a mere half kilometre due to traffic congestion will now be a breezy three-minute journey.

Kejriwal said while only 63 flyovers existed in Delhi by 2014, the city has seen the addition of 31 more in the past 9 years, effectively building half of the number since independence. Meanwhile, PWD Minister Atishi with its inauguration, there will be an annual reduction of 6 lakh litres of fuel and 50 thousand tons of carbon dioxide pollution.

Kejriwal, PWD Minister Atishi, MLA Somnath Bharti, Shivcharan Goel, and Girish Soni and senior officials of PWD were also present during the event.

“Earlier it used to take half an hour to travel half a kilometre. It gets irritating and tiring getting stuck amidst traffic. With the construction of the new flyover, this will be covered within 3 minutes. Moti Nagar flyover is just a small component, the bigger and primary component is the Club Road Flyover, which will be ready by July of this year. It took 18 months to build the Moti Nagar flyover, and the Club Road flyover will be completed in about 21 months,” he said.

While addressing the residents of Moti Nagar and nearby areas, Atishi said: “Everyone is well aware that earlier, one had to spend more than half an hour to cross this stretch of the Ring Road. Today, with the inauguration of this Moti Nagar flyover, people get great relief from traffic congestion.”

She said the figures related to this flyover state that this flyover will be used by more than 1.25 lakh vehicles in one day. “As this flyover will eliminate traffic congestion, the speed of the vehicles will increase on this stretch, and it will help the people of Delhi save more than 6 lakh litres of fuel every year. This will also save travel time; 9000 man-hours will also be saved, and people will be able to spend that time with their family or on their work. This Moti Nagar flyover will also help us reduce more than 50000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year,” she said.

This flyover will benefit not only the people of Delhi and the environment but will also boost the economic growth of the national Capital, she said.
