    Jamia students deliberate and expound vision of “ViksitBharat@2047”

    Manmohitpreet Kaur and Faraz Ahmed Aaswi, students of B.A. (Hons) from the Department of Geography, Faculty of Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) visited the Ideation Centre set up at FTK-Centre for Information Technology of the university and shared their ideas on their vision of “ViksitBharat@2047”.

    Key features:

    1. Vision for Viksit Bharat in 2047:
    Both Manmohitpreet and Faraz expressed a common vision for Viksit Bharat in 2047, emphasizing the importance of achieving targets of sustainable development and inclusive growth. Ms. Kaur envisioned an India which has reached maximum potential in terms of manufacturing sector and offered a safer space for women. She also highlighted the need of robust education system which promotes STEM fields and encourages research and development. Mr. Faraz focused on the optimal utilization of the demographic dividend of India and the excellence of the nation in the health, education and economic realms.

    2. Strategies to achieve the goal:
    Manmohitpreet highlighted the role of top to bottom and bottom-up approaches to achieve the targets. She expressed the need of diversifying the stakeholders and adopting a citizen friendly approach and making citizens future friendly by providing them sufficient platforms to inculcate futuristic skills. Mr. Faraz highlighted the essence of building better infrastructure and connecting hinterlands; increasing expenditure on healthcare and promoting equal access to higher education.

    3. Individual contribution for Viksit Bharat:
    Manmohitpreet expressed her views regarding the need of capable student leaders who can take charge and work towards building up a sustainable future. She also highlighted how everyone should adopt sustainable and inclusive practices in the workplaces. Mr. Faraz stressed on the need of the students to realize their fundamental duties towards the nation. The importance of learning vocational skills and the need for research, innovation and development as an idea among the students.

    Conclusion:
    The responses from Manmohitpreet Kaur and Faraz Ahmed Aaswi reflect the youthful ideas that our government is looking for, fresh eyes and youthful energy are essential catalysts to the growth of the nation. Both conferred the idea of inclusive and sustainable growth highlighting the need of development to seep through all strata of the society both horizontally and vertically. Thus, Viksit Bharat in 2047 would be a desirable place to live in.
