    Shaheen Bagh resident’s house burgled, jewellery worth ₹5 lakh missing

    In another robbery incident reported in Jamia Nagar, a Shaheen Bagh resident said his house was burgled when the family was away to meet some relatives in the locality. In the police complaint, Md Shoaib Fatimi said his wife, who was returning to house at 4.30 pm after dropping a relative at a hospital, got a call from her neighbour who informed her that the gate of the flat was open.

    She rushed to the third floor flat and saw the entrance door was open, he said.

    When she entered she saw the almirah open and the gold jewellery was missing and Rs 25,000 cash was also missing from the almirah, he said, adding that the total loss is of Rs 5 lakh. The incident took place some four days ago, he said.

    This is not one incident in the locality as a few days ago another robbery had taken place in Johri Farm. Besides, from time to time such incident takes place, said residents.

    Incident of pick-pocketing too is on rise in Batla House main market. Market Association member Md Waseem said it was only a few days ago when a woman customer, who had landed in the market area, was targeted by pickpocket. She had lost her IDs and some cash in the incident, he said. A few days ago some residents had even shared CCTV footage grab on the social media of robbery incident in Zakir Nagar in which two people were seen committing robbery.
