Okhla man pays price for making wudu without jacket at local mosque

Usually when people visit mosques in winter to offer prayers they make wudu (Islamic washing before prayer) by hanging or placing their jackets.

An Okhla resident too did this a few days ago when he went to offer prayer at one mosque in Jamia Nagar. After hanging his jacket by the hook he got engrossed in performing wudu.

But he was in deep shock as when he reached for his jacket after performing the wudu, he couldn’t find Rs 2,400 in his pocket, according to a resident, aware of the development.

The resident said his friend was taken aback as he lost his money in a short span of five minutes.

Residents, who are regular at the mosque, said once his new pair of shoes too was stolen when he was offering namaz. Residents said drug addicts move around and wait for their chances. In most of the cases that have come forward till now, many a time the robbers, who steal shoes, jackets and money, from mosques sell them at throw-away price.

A Batla House resident said how some drug addicts were stealing even taps and other iron items from a mosque.
