First Urdu novelists’ club formed in Okhla

With an aim to bring Urdu novelists on one platform and hold reading sessions from time to time, several Okhla-based novelists formed a club in Okhla on Sunday.

Its first meeting was held on Sunday in Jamia Nagar, said Md Tajuddin, a novelist whose Urdu writing is well praised across the country in the virtual world.

Md Tajuddin, whose first novel is to be published soon, said on the first day fiction reading session was held in which a novelist read a chapter and then critical analysis was presented so that how the writing can be improved further.

He said the club is also opened for budding Urdu novelists with seniors willing to guide them in the right direction and honing their writing skills over a period of time.

“The first step to form a club has been taken and it all now depends on other novelists how to serve Urdu. There was an urgent need for such forum where one can share thoughts and other nitty-gritty of novel writing,” he said.

Khalid Mubashshir, Professor at Urdu Department Jamia Millia Islamia, was also present in the meet. Urdu journalist Abdul Mannan and others also participated in the first session.
