Mess created by thunderstorm yet to be cleared

Tilted poles, broken branches from thunderstorm are yet to be cleared from roads, according to Okhla residents.

It was four days ago when several trees were uprooted due to thunderstorm in Delhi. In Jamia Millia Islamia, several trees were uprooted and Dr Zakir Husain mausoleum and museum was also damaged.

In Batla House and other places walls and tin shed had caved in with no casualty being reported from the area. However, three people across Delhi had died in the thunderstorm and rain.

Residents said from many places broken branches and tree trunks are yet to be cleared, causing traffic jam.

“Today on my way to office I saw broken tree branches at Tikona Park yet to be cleared. It lead to traffic jam as entrance exams for Jamia going on,” said Syed Hashmi.

Another resident said a tree branch uprooted by the strong wind at Batla House graveyard is yet to be removed. A tilted pole on way to Okhla Vihar is yet to be fixed, said one resident, adding that it can fall and cause road accident. A few solar streetlight put on Hari Kothi road also broke during the thunderstorm.
