Watch: Okhla residents seek justice for Talib, take out candle march

Many residents gathered on Thursday at Batla House to demand justice for Talib Samadani, 25, who was killed in a fight over gulli danda in the locality.

A call for the candle march surfaced on the social media asking residents to turn up to pay tribute to Talib, the only son of Babu Khan. “At 6 pm on Thursday the RWA Zakir Nagar Welfare Association is going to take out a candle march to seek justice for Talib. We want the Delhi Government to pay compensation of Rs 1 crore to the kin of the family,” said the message doing the rounds since Wednesday.

After the incident, the Delhi Police issued a statement and said it was on Friday that PCR calls were received at PS Jamia Nagar regarding fight between two groups of people.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR was registered and investigation was taken up. On Saturday, on receipt of information of death of Talib from Safdarjung Hospital sec 302 IPC was added in the case. The father of deceased alleged involvement of one Irfan and his associates in the incident. Accused Irfan, along with his associate and one CCL, were apprehended thereafter. Police teams are putting in their best efforts to arrest the remaining one accused person,” the police said in a statement.

Arrests have been made in the case, it said.
