Key in Anti-CAA protests, activist Shaheen Kausar was arrested from her Shaheen Bagh flat on Tuesday early morning. “I was arrested today (September 27) at 3.30 am early morning. Please pray for me,” Shahin Kausar SDPI posted on her timeline eight hours ago.

However, a resident well aware of the development said she has been released a few hours ago.

Several media outlets carried the news of arrest of Shaheen and raid on PFI on Tuesday. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other probe agencies are carrying out a second round of raids on the PFI. Several PFI members have also been detained, reported the media.

According to news18.com, Shaheen Kausar of the Women India Movement group has been arrested as part of the raids against PFI in Delhi on Tuesday, sources said. The report said she was also a key figure in the anti-CAA-NRC protest in Delhi in 2020.

Kausar belongs to the SDPI, which is considered the political wing of the PFI, said the report, adding that the Special Cell of Delhi Police is conducting raids in several places including Rohini, Nizamuddin, Jamia, Shaheen Bagh and Central Delhi.

Ajay Mishra Teni, MoS, Union Home Ministry, said: “Delhi | We have got suspicious info against PFI. Raids were conducted on the basis of inputs we received. Some people were arrested too. The raids are underway, searches will happen as per the info we will receive further.”

Security has been beefed up in Shaheen Bagh since morning after the raid.
