Shab-e-Barat 2022: Batla House graveyard being readied (video)

As Shab-e-Barat 2022 is to be observed on Friday across the country, in Okhla Batla House graveyard is being readied for the day when some residents visit cemeteries as part of Shab-e-Barat ritual only after 5 pm. Many people visit the graves of their ancestors on Shab-e-Barat to pray for their souls.

Also, the day is seen an opportunity to prepare for Ramadan. Keeping this in mind, Zakir Nagar Councillor Shoaib Danish said he is making sure that pile-up dust and garbage in the two graveyards are removed and the areas are cleaned so that residents visiting graveyards don’t face any hardship.

There is one more graveyard and it is in Shaheen Bagh.

“Once the cleaning process is done, I will make sure that posters put on graveyards walls are removed and for this will make sure that before Friday, the walls are washed and cleaned.

Also, he said work for paving of road of Batla House and Zakir Nagar will begin soon.

Other local residents were also seen at the spot with workers picking up garbage in small vehicle. The new graveyard in Batla House, which was closed for years, was made operational, in second Covid wave.
