SDMC’s schools, dispensaries in unusable, abandoned rail containers for health and schools services in unauthorised colonies: Mayor

Mayor Anamika has said that schools and dispensaries will be made in unusable and abandoned Rail Containers. In a virtual meeting with the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, the Mayor asked to provide rail containers which are not in use, abandoned and lying unattended for making schools, dispensaries and toilets.

She said that the Union Minister has assured to provide containers as soon as possible.

Mayor Anamika said that with the unique initiative, SDMC will be able to ensure health and schools services in unauthorised colonies where hospital and school facilities are not available.

She said that the move will also help in providing services  in nearest locality of people living in such areas. Anamika said that SDMC can made small size hospitals/dispensaries and schools from these containers in low budget and deploy Corporation staff there.

In meeting, the Mayor also asked to provide land along Railway tracks so public toilets could be constructed by SDMC. She said that many people use Railway tracks and surroundings for open defecation and urination. This move will help in maintaining cleanliness in such localities.
