Irfan Najmi’s father passes away, tadfeen in Batla House

Ghaffar Manzil resident Rizwan Najmi, 75, died at 2 am on Thursday at Royale Kalindi Hospital in Jasola.

He was laid to rest in Batla House graveyard after Zuhr prayer with family members, relatives and friends, including former Okhla MLA Parvez Hashmi, turning up to attend the last journey.

Rizwan’s son Irfan Najmi studied in Jamia Millia Islamia and is known in the locality.

According to a family relative, who requested not to be quoted, Rizwan was suffering from the rare of the rarest disease with his vocal cord blocked. Bedridden for the last one year, three days ago his condition deteriorated and he was rushed a local hospital in Jasola, where he breathed his last.

Originally from Bihar’s Darbhanga, he was residing in Okhla for the last 20 years with his family of seven children, four sons and three daughters.

Earlier, he used to work in Saudi Arab, said a family source, adding that he was socially active person.

Rizwan lost his wife during Covid period.

Okhla resident and AMU alumnus Javed Khan, who had turned up at the graveyard, with other residents, said he knew the family for years and Rizwan had an amiable personality and his death is loss to the family.
