Many residents struggled to get things in order as water entered their houses and flats in low-lying areas. A video of a woman in Noor Nagar surfaced on the social media in which she is seen shouting as water entered her house. The family said the situation has only worsened for the last many years as heavy rain only floods their house. Other residents too in Okhla Village faced hardship. The social media was flooded with videos and images of waterlogged roads and water entering houses.

At Jamia Millia Islamia road, a divider caved in. A university teacher said it was luck that nobody was hurt in the incident.

The rain lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). The city witnessed traffic snarls as roads got waterlogged.

“Delhi’s Safdarjung observatory records 138.8 mm rain in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am today. This is the season’s highest one-day rain,” said the India Meteorological Department.

Delhi recorded 139 mm rainfall, the highest one-day rain for August in at least 13 years.
