Prof Sharfuddin, OSD to former Jamia V-C Talat, dies of post-Covid complications

Professor Sharfuddin Ahmad, former OSD Jamia Millia Islamia ex-Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad and teacher at Jamia Mathematics Department, passed away a few minutes ago in a hospital in Delhi due to post-Covid complications. He will laid to rest at Shaheen Bagh graveyard today after 8 pm most probably, said his close relative.

“His report had come negative a few days ago. But he suffered paralysis and was in ICU for the last five days. He died of post-Covid complications,” said his close relative, adding that once the body reaches and other procedure is completed decision will be taken when and where to lay him in Okhla.

A few days ago, the OT had reported that Sharfuddin, 69, needed Plasma on urgent basis.

The Professor, who joined Jamia in 1984, taught Mathematics at Natural Science Department and was founder member, Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics and life member, Indian Chapter of International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste.

His wife was also hospitalised in Holy Family Hospital after testing Covid positive a few days ago.

During the tenure of Talat, Professor Sharfuddin was the most influential person on the campus and in the absence of the V-C, the soft spoken Mathematics Professor was in charge of the university.
