Ali, who resides in the lane, said it was four months ago when the road was dug-up for sewer laying work and since then it was in bad condition. With situation not improving, it was decided by some residents that why not pool money to get the road motorable so that at least in emergency time ambulances and vehicles can come in, he said.

The road had become uneven and was hard to travel on with cases of people hurting and falling at night had surfaced, he said, adding that the decision was taken after we came to know that it might take more time to get work finished as water lines are also to be laid.

Another resident, who runs a shop at the street, said business has been hit since the main linking road was dug up for sewer work. As you can see that after filling construction materials on the road by labourers at least the road is now motorable, he said.

Roads are being dug up across AFE for sewer work and laying water supply pipes, said residents.
