Local leader Jabir arrested from Shaheen Bagh in PFI raid

Activist and local leader Mohammad Jabir has been arrested from Shaheen Bagh in early morning raid, according to his close aide Sharib.

The activist said he was arrested from his house in Shaheen Bagh. Jabir is associated with local AAP and campaigned aggressively in the MCD poll which was later postponed for unification of the civic body. He was the front runner for AAP ticket from Abul Fazal Enclave ward.

Abdullah, Sameer and others have been arrested, he said.

Several media outlets carried the news of arrest of Shaheen and raid on PFI on Tuesday. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other probe agencies are carrying out a second round of raids on the PFI. Several PFI members have also been detained, reported the media.

After the raid security has been upped in the area. Paramilitary forces are on the ground in Shaheen Bagh.

As per the latest news, Delhi Police begins drone surveillance over Shaheen Bagh, reported timesnownews.com, adding that the the raids were conducted early morning by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police with pan India raids are underway in 8 states of the country in connection with PFI.
