An open manhole on Shaheen Bagh busy road poses threat to lives, said residents, adding that the situation has been like this for months. They said this is not the only one on this high-tension road connecting 40-feet Shaheen Bagh main road which has become a new foodies’ hub.
With sewer work going on the main road, many e-rickshaw drivers are taking this route to reach 40-feet road opening to Aggarwal. The open manhole in the middle of the road is dangerous and at night when there is dark it can lead to road accidents, said residents. It is not known how many bikers and other residents have got hurt, but residents are concerned.
However, it is another story that shopkeepers on this road are least bothered with it as life is going as usual with everybody busy doing business. A resident said there are actually two big manholes on this road one located very close to the open one. The uneven one is also as dangerous as the open one as chances of e-rickshaw turning turtle is high after overstepping on it.
Residents said it would have been better if the issue is resolved on priority basis.
