Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School celebrates 15th Annual Day

Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School (JGSSS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated its 15th Annual Day on February 13, 2024 amidst great splendour, mirth and zest in the Dr. M. A. Ansari Auditorium of the university.

Anjum Iqbal, Principal of JGSSS welcomed the chief guest and other esteemed guests. The programme commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by the Jamia Tarana. There were cultural programmes like English Skit on Environment Conservation (written by a girl student of the school), Tamseeli Mushaira, Gujarati Folk Dance and Comic Skit.

An informal session was conducted with Zafar Sareshwala by a class XII student. He encouraged the students to feel proud of being a part of such an eminent institution and to efficiently utilise its resources. He also highlighted the significance of literacy among girls.

The programme concluded by conferring numerous honours on deserving students. Meritorious students who excelled in academics were given prizes, which also included student of the year in various categories, most active students, and 100 per cent attendance. In addition, trophies were also given for co-curricular activities and to the head girl, vice head girl, and discipline committee members of the school cabinet for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Zafar Sareshwala, former chancellor MANUU, chairman Parsoli Corporation was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Eqbal Hussain, Offg. Vice-Chancellor, JMI was the Chief Patron and Asiya Sareshwala, an educationist and spouse of Zafar Sareshwala was the Guest of Honour. The Annual Day was graced by various eminent dignitaries of JMI, teachers, press and students.
