Jamaat bans public from taking pictures, videos of its campus, gives reasons

A local YouTuber who had visited Jamaat-e-Islami Hind headquarters in Dawat Nagar a few days ago faced difficulties in shooting a movie for his project. He said guards told him that he needs permission from higher authorities to do so. After talking with a few JIH workers, it was known that the religious body has banned public from taking pictures and videos of its campus without permission.

JIH Secretary, Media Dept, Syed Tanveer Ahmed, confirmed this development to the OT over phone and said the organisation has taken this step after some locals forwarded them photo of couple in romantic pose on its campus.

There are many youngsters who don’t know how to respect mosque premises. The photo of the young teenager in romantic pose was grabbed at mosque premises and it was uploaded on the social media. Somebody shared it asking: ‘Is the campus premise of religious organisation being used for such purposes.’ After which a decision was taken to ban public from taking pictures, videos in the campus. But if there are some genuine reasons for making videos and pictures then we will certainly look into it and give permission,” he said.

With no open space in the locality, many a time, according to guards on the campus, young couples are found in romantic positions. And sometimes it has led to small fight too between guards and the couple when they tried to stop them, said a source. Also, the source said the campus was used for loitering by wayward youths which now has been stopped.
