Two Jamia Millia Islamia PhD scholars of the Center for West Asian Studies, Sheeba Naaz and Yusra Zainab, presented a paper titled “Analysis of Islamic Finance from the perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals: With Special Reference to the WANA Region” in the 12th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance (ICIEF) 2020 held in Istanbul, Turkey from 14th to 20th June 2020.

The Conference was hosted by the Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Halkalı Campus to discuss ‘Sustainability and Economic Development’ in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the role of Islamic Economics and Finance in addressing it. All the papers and lectures in the Conference were presented through video conferencing.

Their paper focused on bringing to light the vital role and possible contribution of Islamic financial institutions, capital markets and other instruments of Islamic finance in achieving the SDGs and filling the financing gap in the achievement of these goals in the WANA region effectively and efficiently. Presently both are working on the topic of Islamic Finance in the Arab world.
