Most of these hoardings carry pictures of local leaders or aspiring leaders of different parties. Besides, these posters are also of coaching institutes and business houses with several walls in the locality being plastered and defaced. Surprisingly these posters and hoardings are installed across the city throughout the year.

Many residents are deeply upset with these illegal hoardings and posters. “Please also ban posters and banners on walls as it is a big nuisance, wastage of paper and tonnes of daily garbage,” said an Okhla-based netizen.

“You can easily spot hoardings and posters on walls. Just at 4 number road entrance you can see that the Yamuna boundary is plastered with big posters and hoardings blocking residents’ view to Yamuna. The municipal corporation should take note of it and start an awareness programme against illegal hoardings and posters in the city,” said a resident, who wants the area to be cleaned.

Many are of the firm opinion that to fulfill dream of clean and green Okhla, it is important to get rid of illegal hoardings and posters and encroachments, illegal parking and roadside garbage dumping.
