Watch: After grave costs stump bereaved, MLA Amanat says don’t pay more than Rs 3,000 for burial at Batla House graveyard

When people die the last thing that their loved ones want is to face hassle for burying the body and ending up to pay huge amount for the final resting place.

Save community journalism by paying Rs 500, 1,000 and more.

In Batla House complaints have been received that the graveyard charges Rs 6,000 and more for the final resting place, according to a video uploaded by Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan on his timeline a few hours ago soliciting several comments.

To address the issue Amanatullah reached the Batla House graveyard with his fans. He said he spoke with the management who told him that it won’t charge more than Rs 3,000 for the grave.

I appeal to people not to give more than Rs 3,000 for burial and take slip and if there are issues approach me and give written complaint, he said.

“People have been complaining to me for days that they are being charged Rs 6,000 for burial in Batla House graveyard. Today I visited Batla House graveyard to stock of the situation. I found that more than Rs 6,000 is being taken for burying bodies in the graveyard. Last week I had issued orders as Delhi Waqf Board chairman that no graveyard should charge more than Rs 3,000 for burial. In Batla House too people have to pay just Rs 3,000.
