Rozedars face heat due to extreme heat, mercury touches 42 degrees Celsius in Okhla, yellow alert issued in Delhi

Residents of Okhla woke up to a hot day on Wednesday. And as the day passed on, the temperature touched 42 degrees Celsius in Jamia Nagar at 4 pm, according to a mobile weather application.

Earlier in the day, it was forecast that the city will see a jump of two to three degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Safdarjung Observatory saw a maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature is to soar to 44 degrees Celsius by Thursday.

The maximum temperature may even leap to 46 degrees Celsius in parts of Delhi, a Met department official said.

A yellow alert warning of a heatwave spell in Delhi starting April 28 has been issued.

Delhi had recorded a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius on April 21, 2017. The all-time high maximum temperature for the month was 45.6 degrees Celsius on April 29, 1941.
