It appears that for safety reasons, Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to not hold namaz at its mosque. As words spread in the virtual world, the OT called up the imam of the mosque to know about the development. The phone was picked up by a person, who claimed him to be son of the imam and on being asked about Eid namaz, he said: “This year there will be no namaz.”

It is not whether other mosques will follow suit or not, but namazis’ numbers have been restricted in local mosques with only five people being allowed to gather.

And at times of pandemic, many have urged residents to offer namaz at home. Islamic scholar told the OT that it is better if namaz is offered at home keeping mind the fatalities in second wave of Covid.
