Watch: Shoppers throng Batla House, Zakir Nagar ahead of Eid

For the first time since the pandemic breakdown in India in 2020, Eid is to be celebrated with no restrictions and Batla House and Zakir Nagar market areas saw rush on Sunday evening as after breaking their fast many residents were seen going to the market area to purchase items if they missed to buy all these day.

People from other places also turned up at Batla House to purchase eatables, clothes and footwears.

“Since 2020 people were unable to celebrate Eid as normal due to Covid restrictions. This is for the first time in two years that people are coming out in large numbers to buy things in festivals. Also, our business is doing well,” said a shopkeeper.

The Delhi government has lifted almost all the Covid-related restrictions but the use of face mask was reintroduced last month in view of the rise in number of infections.

Eid is likely to be celebrated on Tuesday as moon was not sighted today.

After the moon sighted, residents will get ready to celebrate the festival in a big way and start the day by offering namaz in Eidgah and local mosques. The fasting will also end.
