SDMC opens jab centre in Jaitpur, says 130 take first dose

A vaccination centre for people aged between 18 and 44 years has been inaugurated at SDMC School Jaitpur. With this, SDMC started vaccination under third phase at its 11 schools located in all four zones, said the SDMC.

Some 130 people, between age of 18 and 44 years, took their first dose at the centre located at SDMC School Jaitpur.

On the occasion, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Delhi BJP vice president Ashok Goyal, former president of South Delhi District Mithlesh Singh and senior officials from Health Department were present.

Additional Commissioner (Health) Randhir Sahay, along with senior officials of Health Department, took stock of necessary arrangements at these centres ahead of starting of vaccination process.

Three vaccination centres from Central Zone,  2 vaccination centres from South Zone, 4 vaccination centres from Najafgarh Zone and 2 vaccination centres from West Zone have been allowed for third phase of vaccination, said the SDMC.

Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta, on the occasion, said the third phase of vaccination is important initiative under which people above 18 years of age are getting Covid vaccination.

He said the third phase of vaccination is very important as its covers youth population of the country. “With starting the facility at SDMC Schools, it will help large numbers of youths in getting vaccination without any hassle.”

He said that the need of the hour is to speed up the process by allowing vaccination at all MCD Schools.

Gupta praised the efforts of SDMC for getting the go ahead for third phase of vaccination from Delhi Government by raising the demand before the Lieutenant Governor.

Mayor Anamika said approval to open 5 sites at each shool has been given under third phase.

She said if adequate supply of vaccine was made by the Delhi Government then each of the 11 centres can vaccinate 750 doses every day and more than 8,250 people can be vaccinated at these centres every day.

She said on the first day of phase third of vaccination, 130 people, between age of 18 and 44 years, took their first dose at the centre located at SDMC School Jaitpur.
