Okhla’s top cop down with dengue dies, Delhi reports its first dengue death this year

Delhi has reported its first dengue death of the year on Wednesday. According to media reports a top cop of Okhla, SHO Sarita Vihar, has succumbed to the infection.

“Today, the Delhi Police has lost a brave cop Inspector Rajneesh Sharma. Having been suffering with dengue since October 26, 22, he took his last breath in Aggrasen Hospital in Rohini. His contribution in serving the Delhi Police shall be remembered for eternity. At this time of sorrow, we pray to god to give his family enough strength to bear this loss and to provide peace to departed soul,” read a statement issued by the department.

Sharma had joined the Delhi Police as Sub Inspector in 1997. During his service, he was felicitated with Asadharan Karya Puraskar in 2013. He joined as SHO of Sarita Vihar in May this year as SHO of New Delhi Railway Station.
