Resident catches fake beggars in Batla House

With Ramzan, beggars are coming to Okhla in hope of getting their share. If some are genuine, a few cases of fake beggars too have surfaced in the locality, said Mohammad Waseem, member of Batla House Market Association.

On Wednesday night, Waseem said he caught a beggar who had covered his legs with bandage and moving around on a cart seeking money. “I confronted him and the other person who was plying the cart. He told me that he had suffered paralysis and was unable to walk. I got suspicious and asked him to take off his bandage. Nothing was found and he was normal. After which he started walking. Also, smell was coming out of his associate,” said Waseem.

The Batla House Market Association member said residents should avoid giving money to fake beggars.
