In a major encroachment removal drive from roadsides, SDMC said its West Zone seized 45 abandoned vehicles and 160 other articles. The seized articles are mainly tin sheds, racks, tables, counters, boards, cylinders, utensils and other related items, it said.

The drive was carried out in West Zone’s Janakpuri, Tilak Nagar, Madipur, Rajouri Garden, Najafgarh Road, Vikaspuri, etc areas. Motive behind the drive was to free public land and roadsides for hassle free movement, it said.

Deputy Commissioner of West Zone Awanish Kumar said the drive is being carried out in view of Swachh Survekshan-2022.

In today’s drive, public land and roadsides were freed from encroachment so sanitation could be ensured in a proper manner. Traffic will be eased from removal of vehicles standing on both sides of roads and will help in controlling pollution. Kumar said that the SDMC will carry out similar drive against such vehicles in future also.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar appealed to the people not to dump old vehicles along roadside and scrap them properly. He also appealed to the people to help in keeping the area clean.
