Scribes in Okhla mourn death of young Urdu journalist from heart attack. Aamir Saleem Khan died at 1.04 pm today at G B Pant Hospital. It was two days ago when he was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU and put on ventilator following a massive heart attack. And despite doctors their best to revive him, he never recovered, said senior Jawaid Rahmani who knew him for years.

Khan used to reside in Mehndiyan close to Delhi Gate with his family and he is to be laid to rest at Mehndiyan Qabristan, behind Maulana Azad Medical College, ITO, at 8 pm today.

“Three days ago he suffered heart attack. After coming from his newspaper office Daily Hamara Samaj and taking meal he complained of uneasiness while breathing. He was rushed to GB Pant Hospital and since then we all were praying for his recovery. But he expired a few hours ago,” said Rahmani.

Two months ago, his father died. Coming from a Madarsa background and originally form a city in UP, he rose up the ladder after working in several Urdu dailies. Later on he became Editor of Daily Hamara Samaj.

Khan was a PCI member. In his death, the Urdu media has lost a dynamic and brilliant journalist, said Rahmani. Khan had suffered heart attack three years ago and had recovered, said another Urdu journalist who knew him for years.

The report of his death left several journalists in Okhla in shock. Senior journalist Shafique ul Hasan wrote: “Senior Urdu journalist and Editor Daily Hamara Samaj, Aamir Saleem Khan (48) passed away at Delhi’s GB Pant Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital after a massive heart attack on 10th December.”

Another Okhla-based journalist Naushad Khan wrote: “Senior Urdu journalist Khan passed away at Delhi’s GB Pant Hospital.”

He has left behind three sons and wife.
