2,716 new Covid cases with the positivity rate mounting to 3.64 per cent.

It is after a gap of over seven months, the city’s numbers breached the 2000-mark.

As per the latest health bulletin, the city also saw one death.

A total of 74,622 samples were tested during the last 24 hours, up from 73,590 on Friday.

A total of 1,24,148 Covid vaccination doses were administered in a day, out of which 52,767 people received their first dose while 71,381 received their second dose of the vaccine, the health department said.

Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a press meet on Saturday said: “Keeping in view  the ongoing situation, more than 3,000 beds have already been prepared for the children. All the healthcare workers are being trained and instructed properly for the treatment of the coronavirus. There is no separate treatment for the different variants of the virus.”

He said: “People are demanding the Omicron test these days, this is to inform them that the information on Omicron is necessary only for the government and policy makers so that it can ensure the system works accordingly. Patients will not get to know anything new about the variant because the treatment process for other corona variants is exactly the same as the Omicron variant. The Omicron variant is a variant of the corona itself and the protocol for its treatment and prevention is also the same as before.”
