Experts discuss importance of Zakat

Zakat Centre India, (ZCI) established two years ago with a nationwide presence of 20 units organised a meeting of stakeholders to revive the collective Zakat, aiming to eradicate poverty and making underprivileged self- reliant.

“We are thrilled to announce that Zakat Centre India successfully organised the first National Zakat Conference, an All India Zakat Management Institutions Relationship & Networking event. A momentous event aimed at uniting all Zakat Management Institutions in India. Our primary objective is to create a common platform where these institutions can communicate, collaborate, and cooperate in their collective mission to fulfill the noble cause of Zakat. Our goal is to maximise the impact and reach of Zakat initiatives, ensuring that funds are utilised efficiently and effectively,” said the body.
Inaugurating the conference, S Ameenul Hasan, chairman, ZCI, spoke on how we can turn Zakat takers into Zakat givers.

“The need to communicate, collaborate and cooperate between different Zakat institutions for maximising the impact and collaborative efforts between organisations. Syed Zafar Mehmood, president, ZFI spoke on importance of using Zakat in education and empowerment,” said the body.

There were three presentations on different topics of zakat system. M Hidayatullah, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Baitulmaal Federation, spoke about zakat management through local mosque.
Razi Ul Islam, Trustee, ZCI, spoke about Shariah Benchmarks and its compliance in Zakat Management System.

How to follow Shariah in collection and disbursement of Zakat funds, said Suhail Abbas IT Head, ZCI. He spoke about mechanism of Zakat disbursement to beneficiaries and how monitoring and mentoring beneficiaries plays a decisive role in making them self sufficient.

Farooq, NGO Head, AMP spoke about technology upgradation and sharing in Zakat Management System. How adopting technology can enhance our efficiency and impact, he said.

Abdul Jabbar Siddiqui, Secretary, ZCI spoke about the importance of economic awareness through zakat system.
The organisations that participated in this event were: MESCO (Mumbai), Zakat & Charitable Foundation (Lucknow), Zakat Foundation of India (Delhi), Tamil Nadu Baitulmals Federation (Chennai), Association of Muslim Professionals (Mumbai), Pro Zakat Foundation (Delhi), Oruma (Chennai), ZCI Jaipur, ZCI Malerkotla, ZCI Sambhal, ZCI Mumbai, ZCI Bareilly, ZCI Delhi, ZCI Bhopal, ZCI Chennai and ZCI Nagpur units.

Zakat Centre India said it is honoured to host this inaugural National Zakat Conference and invite all Zakat Management Institutions in India to join us in this journey.
