Mother, daughter jump into Yamuna leading to rescue operation

Rescue operation was on to trace two people, a 32-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter, who had jumped into the Yamuna River on Friday in Kalindi Kunj area, according to police.

Search of the duo, including Rajni Kumari, was made with the help of divers and flow of water was also stopped from the bairage but they could not be found them, it said. Also, fire brigade and ambulance were called at the spot.

A PCR call regarding the incident was received at 6.42 am on Friday and the staff immediately rushed to the spot where one child aged about 6 years was present with Head Constable C Sanjeev Kumar from PS Sector 126, Noida, said police, adding that the girl stated her mother along with her sister aged 4 years jumped into Yamuna river.

“The woman was identified as Rajni Kumari wife of Ramanand aged about 32 years. Her husband stated that Rajni along with both kids had gone from house at about 6.00 am. They got married in 2012. Father and brother of Rajni are living in Patna, Bihar, and they have been informed about this incident,” said the police. Investigation is in progress, police said.
