The SDMC will set up 20 WiFi hotspots in each ward. Standing Committee Chairman  Rajdutt Gahlot said that under PM Wani Scheme the Standing Committee has approved a proposal in this regard.

Shopkeepers will look after running/functioning of these hotspots. He informed that people can use Wifi between 10 minutes and 60 minutes by paying  one time charge or monthly charge. He told that the facility will be cheaper than private companies’ WiFi facilities.

Gahlot said that under PM Waani Scheme,  connection will be provided by the SDMC and shopkeepers will have to buy Router from sellers authorized by the Civic Agency. He said that with the scheme, people living in unauthorized colonies will avail Internet facility on low rates.

The move will also provide job opportunity to the people living in unauthorized areas. He said that during the Covid-19 period Internet has become a basic requirement  for Work From Home and Online Classes hence the move will be beneficial for such  people.
