    Jamia tennis men shine at championship

    Jamia Millia Islamia, Tennis (Men) won third place in All India Tennis Inter University Championship, according to university coach Md Moonis.

    Jamia has been at the forefront of holding sports events from time to time. On December 31, 2023 North Zone Inter University Tennis (Men) Tournament was organised by the Games and Sports Department, Jamia and it was concluded at NMAKP Sports Complex of the university.

    Twenty Nine (29) university teams from North Zone participated in the tournament wherein Kurukshetra University and JMI teams reached the final. Kurukshetra University was the Winner and JMI was the Runner up of the tournament.

    Professor Waseem Khan, Hony. Director Games & Sports, Jamia and Professor Archana Dassi, Organising Secretary of the championship had then welcomed Jamia Vice Chancellor Professor Eqbal Hussain who presided over the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the championship.

    The Vice-Chancellor in his speech appreciated all the participating teams and has given trophies to the Winner and Runners up teams.

    In the Valedictory Ceremony, Prof. Iqtedar Mohammad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Languages, JMI; Prof. Bindulika Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts, JMI; Prof. Veera Gupta, Hony. Director, UGC- HRDC, JMI; Dr. Irshad Naqvi, CMO, M.A. Ansari Health Centre, JMI, Prof. Mohd Suhaib, Provost, Boys Hostel, Prof. Neelam Sukhramani, Head, Department of Social Work, Principal Senior Secondary School, Qutubuddin, Vice-Principal and Provost (Schools), N.P. Yadav, SHO, Police Station Jamia Nagar and other teaching and non-teaching staff were present.

    The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Waseem Khan.
