Teen stabbed in Batla House during mobile snatching attempt, second incidents in 48 hours. Read the report here.

A stabbing incident was reported near the Batla House bus stand, on the route to Khalilullah Masjid, on Wednesday night, according to residents. A teenage boy was attacked by two youths attempting to snatch his mobile phone, said residents.
CCTV footage indicates that the assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack, said residents aware of the incident. However, there were no witnesses to the incident, and if there were any, nobody was willing to speak with the media.
Till the filing of the report, a probe has begun into the incident.
Left leader Md Muslim said the boy who was attacked by sharp object was his relative. “The boy, around 17 years old, sustained injuries to his neck and head. He was rushed to a trauma center and got the needed treatment. After treatment, he has now returned to his house. It is the case of a snatching attempt, as I was told. When he resisted, the boy was attacked with a sharp object and then the assailants fled from the spot. The boy had gone to a tea stall, and it was then that someone from behind tried to snatch his mobile phone from his trouser pocket. The details are still being verified, as a boy from Pahalwan Chowk has been detained. I am yet to meet my young relative. The fact of the matter will only be known, and the incident fully understood, after meeting him,” said Muslim.

Eyewitnesses and family members said the attack took place as the boy was leaving a tea shop.
The incident of using sharp items has left residents of Batla House in deep shock. They said it is the second stabbing incident in two days. Muslim said it was the fourth incident in the last week and highlights the fact that ruffians are moving freely.
“If someone is carrying a blade or knife in his pocket and involved in snatching, then certainly he is a criminal, and action needs to be taken. I have hope in the administration that they will take action against the accused after identifying the right person,” he said.
Some residents expressed concern over the increasing incidents of stabbings and snatchings in the area. Many pointed out that late-night tea and food shops, which remain open until 2–3 am, contribute to unsupervised youth roaming the streets, posing safety risks. They stressed that parents bear responsibility for monitoring their children, while the local administration and police can only provide partial oversight.
Social activist Md Sagheer Abbasi termed the incidents unfortunate and said a similar incident was reported a day ago. “It is the duty of parents to look after their children. Such incidents are not good for the safety and security of the locality. Drug abuse, snatching, and violence incidents are on the rise. Religious leaders, civil society, and other concerned residents should create awareness in the locality so that such incidents are curbed and wayward youths are shown the right direction.”
Police are actively investigating the incident and have advised residents to cooperate in controlling crime and substance abuse, which is reportedly prevalent in the area, said a resident of Okhla.
Muslim said the victim will provide his statement once he recovers from the trauma, and further updates are expected. This incident highlights the growing concerns over youth safety and public security in Batla House and surrounding areas, he said urging residents to be on guard.
