JMI plans to organise Intensive Summer Camp for Junior and Senior Level Students

A brief meeng, chaired by Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar, was held at the Yasir Arafat Hall of the university on 31 May, 2023. The attendees included the Principal of Jamia Senior Secondary School (Morning shift), the Middle School along with the teaching staff and a faculty member from the Social Work Department.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and plan an intensive summer camp for two levels- junior and senior. The camp aims to provide an immersive and engaging learning experience during the summer break to students not just from the schools of the Jamia, but also extend beyond boundaries to cater to the community outside the Jamia campus.

The key points discussed included the Camp Duration and Schedule and the Modules of the camp that would be organised in the school campus at different levels addressing the multiple intelligences and individual differences. It was decided that the summer intensive camp would offer a range of learning activites that would enable the participants to learn, unlearn and relearn and emerge with holistic personalities.

The all-inclusive curriculum will be designed to align with the needs of the learners at different levels focusing on personality development, communication skills, Sports, martial arts, life skills, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking, theatre, arts and music.

Interactive teaching methods, hands-on experiments, and group activities will be incorporated to enhance learning outcomes. Specialized workshops will be organized to promote skill development and explore various disciplines beyond the school curriculum.
Emphasis will be placed on fostering creativity, innovation, and 21st-century skills among the participants. Experts and professionals will act as mentors, providing guidance and inspiration to the students throughout the camp.

The activites will expose students to real-world applications of their academic knowledge and broaden their horizons. Recreational activities such as sports, outdoor adventures, team-building exercises, and cultural events will be included to promote physical fitness, collabora1on, and social interaction.

Field trips to the university, museum, and local landmarks will be organized to enhance
experiental learning. Teachers and mentors will closely monitor each student’s development
throughout the camp, identifying areas for improvement and offering guidance as needed.

Camp organizers will work closely with subject teachers and educational experts to develop a
    comprehensive and engaging curriculum.

The meeting concluded with a shared enthusiasm for the intensive summer camp. The Vice
Chancellor expressed support for the initiative and encouraged the meeting attendees to ensure a well-rounded program that caters to the diverse needs and interests of the junior
    and senior level students.
