Thieves lift shutter of shop in Zakir Nagar, steal cash; act caught on camera
A gang of four thieves entered a shop in Zakir Nagar early morning by lifting a shutter and escaped with cash, according to residents.
The robbers were caught on a CCTV camera in the shop. It can be seen in the CCTV footage that youths are entering the shop in Zakir Nagar. Residents came to know about the incident after the owner of the shop posted three videos of the incident on social media with residents expressing shock.
Sharing information on social media, a netizen wrote that the incident took place in lane number 21, 22 in Zakir Nagar in a Maryam store owned by two brothers Faisal and Ubaid.
Batla House Market Association post bearer Md Waseem said he also saw the video on social media. He said the incident took place in a Maryam store.
In the CCTV footage, the owner or somebody can be heard explaining about the incident. The person whose identity could not be known said the robbers decamped with cash kept in the till.
Cases of theft and pickpocket have been reported unfailingly from the market area. Batla House Market Association has taken several measures to check such incidents. During Ramzan time when the market gets overcrowded with shoppers, the association had started making announcements alerting visitors to stay on alert from pickpockets.
