SDMC to use machines to process cattle dung into dun blocks

Standing Committee Chairman Rajdutt Gahlot today said in order to dispose of dairy waste properly, the SDMC has decided to use machines which will process cattle dung into dung briquettes/blocks.

Initially, one machine will be installed at Kakrola Dairy Colony in Najafgarh Zone as a pilot project and if things go well, it will be implemented in Nangli, Goyala and in Sarita Vihar area of South Zone also.

Gahlot said the NGT has earlier directed to dispose of waste material generated from dairies following which an inspection was done in Nangli, Kakrola and Goyala.

During the inspection, it was decided to install machines at three dairies producing the maximum amount of dung.

He said installation of one machine for processing dung will be done for one year and will be expanded if performed well. The SDMC will provide open space available in Kakrola Dairy Colony for installation of the machine.

Leader of the House Narendra Chawla, while praising the effort, said this move will help to protect the environment.

He said the corporation is committed to provide a healthy environment to the people of the city hence it will further strengthen the stand.
