Okhla school switches to online mode after student shows Covid-like symptoms

A private school in Okhla has switched to online mode after a student showed Covid-like symptoms.

A Batla House resident said, he received this message from the school. “A child in Class 5 is showing Covid-like symptoms. Therefore, physical classes will be shut for the students of Class 5 (sections A, B and C) on May 9 and 10, 2022.Also, please note that teachers will be taking online classes for these two days. Parents will be informed about the timetable,” read the notice.

An Abul Fazal Enclave resident said for the last more than one month her daughter was attending classes in a college in Delhi physically but she too has been informed that classes will be held online.

When asked whether the college has given any reason for switching to online mode for one month, he said: “The college has not given any reason but it must be due to Covid.” His daughter is a first year student. He said his daughter who studies in a school shared with him information that some of her colleagues too have fever and are showing Covid-like symptoms.

After cases dipped, Delhi lifted all restrictions and for the first time since 2020, festival was celebrated sans any restriction.

On Sunday, Delhi saw 1,422 fresh Covid cases and zero fatality due to the viral disease, while the positivity rate was recorded at 5.34 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had last week said Covid cases have increased in the capital but the situation was not serious as people were not developing severe disease and the hospitalisation rate was low.
