    16 foreign countries participate in REEDCON 2023 at Jamia

    An International Conference on Recent Advances in Electrical, Electronics & Digital Healthcare Technologies, REEDCON 2023 organised by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia was inaugurated on 1st May 2023 in the conference hall of CIT, JMI.

    Organising Secretary, Prof. Majid Jamil introduced the theme of the conference REEDCON 2023. He informed to the audience that REEDCON-2023 is a premier conference series conceptualised by the Department of Electrical Engineering about one year back. It is technically sponsored by IEEE Delhi section. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE is the trusted voice for engineering, computing and technology information around the globe.

    Prof. Jamil thanked IEEE and IEEE Delhi section for trusting the faculty members of Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia and for sponsoring this event. The participants in the conference are from leading institutes from India and 16 foreign countries including USA, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Turkey, Indonesia, Austria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Baharain.

    The three day conference is being organised in hybrid mode. Total 250 plus papers were received and after rigorous review as per IEEE standards only 165 papers are recommended by three reviewers of each paper for presentation and publications on SCOPUS Indexed IEEE explorer. Paper presentations are arranged in 23 sessions over three days in physical and online mode. Six experts from leading institutes from India and abroad are delivering invited talks. The conference would provide the researchers a unique platform to hear from their peers in the field applied research while presenting their own innovative ideas as beginners.

    Secretary thanked vice chancellor and Jamia administration for extending all guidance and support in making this conference a great success.

    Chief Guest Prof. Sujoy Kumar Guha’s major contributions has been in the invention and development of non-hormonal polymer-based injectable male contraceptive (RISUG) for which the Final Phase-III Clinical was completed in 2019.Prof.Guhaemphasised in his address for the development of health infrastructure in the country to fulfil the dream of Prime Minister. He mentioned that digital health has vast potential to prevent diseases and helps doctors in diagnosing the decease accurately. Further it reduces the health care costs also and technology makes health care human friendly. Digital health is a grey area for research and a lot of work is to be done in digital health technology.

    Prof. D. P. Kothari, who has published and presented over 842 papers and has authored and co-authored 60 books emphasised on green & renewable energy. Clean energy technologies and its importance in sustainable development, carbon footprint, energy & environment, trade & research policy, future energy use that can be influenced by economic, linkage between economic and environment were the crest of his address.

    SaurabhDalela, Director, ICAT, Manesar spoke on key role in bringing the Academia, Industry and the Govt., closer to facilitate a collaborative approach in building the future India.

    Commodore Sanjeev Dureja VSM (Retd.), Indian Navy, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia, in his address informed to the audience about the recent development in the field of aviation and developments to take place in the expansion of airports infrastructure in India. .

    Dean, faculty of Engineering & Technology in her speech highlighted the recent achievements of Jamia Millia Islamia. Prof. Munna Khan, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, appreciated the efforts of faculty members of the department in organising the conference successful and thanked vice chancellor and registrar to extend all kind of support in the organization of conference. He thanked to SERB also for sponsoring the event.

    Renowned Professor from IIT Delhi, Padma Shree Prof. Sujoy Goha was the chief guest on this occasion. Other dignitaries were Prof. D.P. Kothari Chairman, Board of Governors, THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology, Tehri, Uttarakhand, Commodore Sanjeev Dureja VSM( Retd.), Indian Navy and Saurabh Dalela, Director, International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, Prof. Mini Thomas, Dean, faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI, Prof. Munna Khan, Head of the Department, Electrical Engineering apart from distinguished speakers, delegates, participants of REEDCON, faculty members, students were present in the inaugural function of IEEE sponsored three days conference.
