Ramzan rush brings business windfall to Batla House

Ramzan’s crescent moon is yet to be sighted but residents are hopeful that it will be seen today after maghrib as the month of fasting has already begun in Saudi Arabia. Keeping this in mind for the first time in two years since the advent of pandemic, residents of Okhla are getting ready to celebrate the month sans any restrictions.

And this certainly good news for businessmen of Batla House and Zakir Nagar who saw their earning depleted in the last two years due to Covid-induced lockdown and restrictions during Ramzan and Eid.

On the night when Ramzan is to begin, Batla House saw a huge turnout of residents who flocked the market place to lay their hands on food and clothes. The month or Ramzan is to start and it is going to be very hot this time around, many residents, including women, have started shopping early for Eid and Ramzan as it is very important month for them, said Haque who had gone to Batla House to purchase a few things for Iftar.

A Shaheen Bagh resident, who had gone to Batla House with his family for shopping, even shared a video of the rush and said after two years gap the area is seeing such a crowd of shoppers.

Zia who runs his business in Batla House it is good news as we always wait for Ramzan as it is the month when people do shopping for the month and Eid as well. They said for the last two years they had faced hardship.
