1. Rain brings relief from heatwave

It was a pleasant surprise for the residents of Okhla as in the evening it received showers providing much-needed relief to them with temperature going down. When they woke up the weather was clear but as the day passed clouds gathered and at 5 pm it rained.

The rain brought the much talked about relief to the residents who for the last many days have been battling scorching heat. It would be interesting to see whether the weather will remain like this on Thursday.

Delhi and North India had experienced the worst heatwave conditions in the last few days.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted a dust storm or thunderstorm with winds in the national Capital on Wednesday.

The mercury is set to rise by four to five notches over the next six days. Rain lashed other parts of the city, including Noida.

“A hailstorm and rain occurred at a few places in Delhi while cloudy skies persisted over most parts of the capital, which pulled the mercury down by a few notches in the evening,” said Mahesh Palawat, Vice President (Meteorology and Climate Change), Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency.

“The impact will linger for another day and the maximum temperature will start increasing from Friday. However, no heatwave is predicted for another four to five days,” Palawat said. The India Meteorological Department said partly cloudy sky is predicted over Delhi for the next three days.
