Pet lovers are known for their deep emotions and it shows. Since morning, the OT has received three separate requests from distraught residents who have lost their beloved cats and parrots. With more Okhla households adopting pets, especially cats and parrots, such incidents have become increasingly common. It’s not unusual now to see “missing pet” posters pasted across the locality’s walls.

One resident, Jiya, said her Persian cat named Gatsby has been missing for the past two days. “Your act of kindness can mean a lot to someone. If you have ever lost a pet, you’ll understand this feeling,” she wrote. The family has announced a cash reward of ₹5,000 for anyone who can share information about the missing cat.
“Breed: Persian, Colour: White, Sex: Male. The cat went missing on October 13 and was last seen near Thokar No. 6–7, Abul Fazal Enclave, close to Haleem Healthcare.”
Her emotional appeal reads: “Lost cat, please help! We’ve lost our cat around Abul Fazal, Thokar 6–7 area. If anyone has contacts there or is part of any local group, please spread the word so we can find him. He’s very dear to us, and we’re really worried. Even a small lead can help. Thank you so much for your support!”
Another user, posting under the name Serenity, made a heartfelt plea with the OT: “I am pleading with you. A small act of kindness can mean the world to someone. Just sharing this on your story or passing the message to others might help. Isn’t that important?”
Another resident shared that her children have been inconsolable since their pet parrot flew away.
“Please publish this story as your page has a wide reach,” she wrote. “Our parrot flew away on September 14. If it has landed in anyone’s home, please help us. My two children are crying every day; they can’t live without it. Allah will bless whoever helps us by making a call on this number 8595952435.”
Zainab, a resident of Johri Farm, reported that her grey-and-white cat has gone missing from Line No. 5, Abbasi Chowk. “If anyone finds it, please contact us at 8745902521,” she wrote, adding that the family has already pasted posters across the area. “People have become so insensitive; instead of helping, some make jokes. Ask me I cared for that cat more than my own life.”
Pet owners lamented that in Okhla, missing pet posts often attract insensitive or mocking comments. As one animal lover put it: “If someone cannot feel compassion for animals, it’s hard to believe they can truly love people.”
