New twist as former Okhla Congress MLA Asif Md Khan called special meeting to discuss Congress ticket offer. Close aides of Khan said Ariba should contest the election. It is understood that within a few minutes decisions would be taken with majority supporters in favour of Ariba to contest.
Khan said though he had applied for his daughter later he changed his mind. Several of die-hard followers were seen sitting in Khan’s office discussing whether to contest election or not. And as the discussion was going Khan’s fans and followers started pouring into his office giving him congratulations. After some 30 minutes of meeting, Khan agreed and then went inside his house at Kalindi Kunj. Later on his daughter too turned up and interacted with the media. The initial confusion whether Ariba would contest election or not was cleared.
In an interaction with the media, Ariba vowed to get rid of garbage dump on roadsides. Also, she talked about her vision to address burning issues of the locality.
Shoaib Danish’s wife Nazia Danish got ticket from Zakir Nagar. From Madanpur Khadar West the party gave ticket to Vijay Pal and from Sarita Vihar Zaberia Mehfooz got the ticket.
Zaberia is wife of Azeem Fouzul.
The high-stakes Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections for 250 wards will be held on December 4 and votes will be counted on December 7.
