Extension lecture on Muslims role in freedom movement held

An extension lecture as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in the Department of History of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) was organised very recently.

Eminent Historian Prof. Syed Mohammad Azizuddin Husain, former Director, Raza Library, Rampur delivered the lecture Role of Indian Muslims in Freedom Movement” yesterday. Prof. Danish Moin, Head, Department of History presided over.

Prof. Azizuddin gave a brief and comprehensive introduction of Indian history and particularly the role and services of Muslims in the Indian freedom movement. While commenting on the first war of independence of 1857, he drew attention towards the sacrifices of Muslims and how brutally Britishers killed Muslims.

Prof. Azizuddin advised young scholars to carry out research on historical documents related to Muslim history and services of Muslims, which are available in various archives. He urged them to bring out those documents to highlight the historical role of Muslims in freedom movement. Muslims were in the forefront of first war of Independence at a time when most of the Rajwadas & Nawabs were on the British side. while praising Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s spirit of nationalism he said Maulana Azad was not at all satisfied with the proposal of partition of India.

Prof. Danish Moin, HoD in his presidential remarks invited historians to do more research on this topic. Dr. Ikramul Haque, Assistant Professor convened the lecture.

In another development, the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has opened fee payment portal for registration in follow-on-courses of UG (batches of 2014 onwards) and PG (batches of 2016 onwards) programs from September 10 to 30, 2022.

According to Prof. Mohd. Razaullah Khan, Director, DDE, portal will remain open for follow-on admission into second year and payment of second year programme fee (irrespective of examination result). Students are hereby informed that if they fail to pay second year programme fee during this period they shall not be allowed to appear in 3rd/4th semester upcoming examinations.
