He said he is not against anti-encroachment drive but the way media is raising the issue. “Today a journalist came to interview me and she tried to provoke me by making senseless claims, which is shameless as it is only media which can do justice by highlighting the issue in the right way,” he said. Since reports surfaced days ago in the media about the SDMC’s plan to start anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh, media has been landing in the locality to get bites from the residents.

A few videos have surfaced on the social media in which two YouTubers are seen trying to pester residents on the issue with many not willing to speak. Later on the YouTuber is seen ranting about the locality and talking about the residents during anti-CAA drive.

For the last many days, TV reporters have been coming in the locality to gauge residents’ mood over the issue with the shopkeepers showing no interest to interact with them. On Thursday too many local leaders were seen interacting with the media with majority of the residents preferring to stay silent on the most burning issue of the locality.
